Can anything else be expected of Single Trac Entertainment Technologies Inc.? Gamers have already played their wildly popular titles before-namely the first Twisted Metal and Warhawk. We saw preliminary sketches, renders and other delicious unspeakables that made us drool in the worst way. That's to be expected, considering all of the carnage that has already been added to the sequel and all of the other goodies that'll be in the finished product.ĮGM recently had an opportunity to see first-hand what Twisted Metal 2 is all about. Twisted Metal 2 is nearing completion, and we have played an early version of what very well could be even more fun and impressive than the first.

But what else is twisted? If a car was going 80 miles per hour and smacked into another car going that fast head-on, the metal of the cars just might twist a little. The games in the series usually contain a healthy dose of black humor.Try to think of things that are twisted in this world: tornadoes, trash bag ties and the creative mind of Stephen King may come to mind. However, there is a general "be careful what you wish for" theme in the game series, as nearly all of the winning contestants end up with "not-so-happy" endings,ĭue to the skill and proclivity of the hosts for twisting the words of their wish around often to deadly effect. The hosts of these games are the persons who are, through arcane means, capable of warping reality itself to grant the wish of the contest winner

The winner is brought before the tournament host, who will grant the contestant a single wish. The general goal is to destroy all opponents apart from the other contestants, unique vehicles seemingly designed by the host themselves may stand in the competitors' path. In almost all of the games, the host is a man called "Calypso" however, in the series' fourth installment, perennial contestant Sweet Tooth briefly takes over. Although each individual game features its own storyline, they all revolve around the eponymous "Twisted Metal": a vehicular combat tournament hosted once a year.
